Act 20/22 Eligible Charity

Rescued dog and puppies

ADLA is incorporated in Puerto Rico, registered with the state department, and eligible to receive Act 20/22 annual donations.

Our rescue has been saving animals in Puerto Rico since 2005. This makes us one of the oldest animal rescues on the island. Over the years, we have rehomed approximately 3,500 dogs. Our shelter is located in Loiza, one of the poorest areas of Puerto Rico. We service this community by not only rescuing strays, but practicing trap, neuter, release with dogs that have been on the street too long but yet cannot be kept at the shelter. We have also hosted low-cost sterilization clinics for residents of Loiza.

We regularly have between 60 to 80 dogs at our shelter. You can see our list of current adoptable dogs here. We also have various volunteer activities at the shelter, including dog walking, shelter cleanups, and we regularly have visits from students of veterinary technician classes, and well as pre-veterinarian college courses.

We would be happy to send you a copy of the documents showing our nonprofit status in Puerto Rico, as well as our 501(c)(3) affirmation letter. Please contact us here.
